Cut Quill

This story is actually in desperate need of rewriting, or at least of a massive edit. However, I’m not going to do that — at least, not yet. I would like to preserve it in this form, since this is the only work of mine which has ever garnered any public recognition. In May 2002, “Real Good” won the original narrative contest at the Pensacola Christian College commencement exercises. No, I have no idea how it won. It must be that it was just so different from the other entries. Whatever it was, it made me happy. Oh, and the contest picked up a new rule from it: “The story must make or prove a moral or point.”
